Simple Thoughts of Mine

I am nothing special; just a common woman with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.

Zha Jiang Mian

Watched a korean drama recently called 'Couple Fantasy'. In this particular drama, the lead actress always eats 'zha jiang mian' (chinese sauce noodle but korean style) as seen above in most of the episodes. It looked delicious on tv, so I started to scout for this interesting looking noodles in the supermarket. I found it and bought one pack to try. It doesn't look appetizing (because it was prepared by me) and truth is, it doesn't taste very good. I prefer the typical zha jiang mian topped with spicy meat sauce which is readily available in chinese restaurants. No more korean type of zha jiang mian for me again.

Perfected my curry chicken

Planned to cook curry chicken or chicken curry using the usual curry paste brand I use every time but it was out of stock. Trying to be more flexible, I decided to use a different brand of curry paste for my dish. I was so afraid that my curry wouldn't turn out well but I was so wrong! It did taste a little bland for a start but after I added some salt and sugar, it tasted just like typical chicken curry/curry chicken. Most importantly, I saved almost half the amount for the curry paste I bought (S$2.42) compared to the slightly more expensive one (S$4.59) I used in the past. I believe that I've inherited my mum's money-saving genes.

My Saturday. My Sunday.

Stayed in my bedroom the whole day(almost). Saturday. Sunday. Watched tv in my room. Watched tv in the living room with my family. Put a temporary halt to my baking sessions last weekend. Wanted to go to the gym for a workout but my legs wouldn't move an inch. Felt lethargic and went to a deep afternoon sleep. Saturday. Sunday. OMG! Is this me? I hope this is just a temporary undesirable behaviour.

Come share my brownies. Come, come...

Made a tray of brownies. Pardon me for the small fraction of missing brownies at the right-hand corner of the tray. I tried a puny bit to make sure that they're 'safe' for consumption. I may sound lame but yes, this is nothing but the truth. With all due respect and if it pleases the court, come try my brownies. This tray is meant for my colleagues and my good friend J who happened to be working near my office. She loves brownies, my brownies. Hehehe... He likes my brownies too. Maybe he doesn't now. My family likes my brownies. My godson's mum aka S loves my brownies. Hmmm... can't think of anyone who hate my brownies.

Running for a cause

I've been participating in activities organised by my firm especially running ones. I know I won't win any prizes but at the same time I do not want to be the last person to finish the race. I got my colleagues to join me for the run too. It is always more enjoyable to have a company of friends joining for such events. The only activity I would pass would be triathon,i.e. biking, swimming and running. I can't ride a bike and I am not a good swimmer. I'd look silly if I go for that. By participating in these runs, I am doing my bit for charity too. The proceeds for the run will go to some sponsored charities. Another embarrassing truth is, I like collecting running tops designed by my firm. I treat every piece as a keepsake. Am going for SGX bull run (3.2km) which is easily achievable. That's how long I jog during my gym workout. Am going for a Singapore marathon in December this year. This marathon comes in full marathon (approx 42km), half marathon (21km) and 10km marathon. Being prudent, I chose 10km. Maximum time given for this marathon event as informed by my colleague is 6 hrs. I gave 4hrs as the estimated time I would take to finish the marathon of 10km. I believe I would take way less than 4 hrs to complete the run. 2hrs is my targeted time frame. My colleague, M seemed excited and 'serious' about this whole affair. We plan to train for this event by jogging around our office vicinity once every 2 weeks. Key word: Plan. I will update everyone if I execute my plan or our plan.

Training is a form of relaxation for me, at least.

Life's not that bad, really. Having my training takes me away from those engagements temporarily. Am appreciating these stress-free moments now. This is the only time where you have no outstanding matters to follow up to and that you can make plans with your friends for a movie, dinner or coffee. Oh boy, how I love those moments! If only I can take one or 2 days break after every engagement, it'll be splendid. If only...

So, for the last week of training this coming week, I've drawn up my agenda:

1. Monday: Meeting my friend R for dinner ;
2. Tuesday: Catching a movie with J;
3. Wednesday: Going for body massage and body scrub;
4. Thursday: Golf practise;
5. Friday: Party with a bunch of gd frds;
6. Saturday: Gym workout;
7. Sunday: Accompany my mum for a facial session.

Brilliant, don't you agree? hehe
